Conclusion

The data set that was used during this project shows how the Atlanta Braves' batting and pitching performance changed from seasons 2020-2023. By reviewing runs scored, home runs, RBIs, strikeouts, and ERA, it makes it easier to see if a team is improving or declining over time. Looking at both hitting and pitching together helped shape a clearer picture of the Braves overall performance across the four seasons and shows how different parts of the team contributed to their statistics.

From the analysis, one major thing that I learned is how individual player statistics reveal who had the greatest impact on the team's success. Home runs and RBIs totals help identify the most productive hitters, while ERA highlights which pitchers were most effective when given meaningful innings. The correlation between home run and RBIs is also important because it shows whether power hitting strongly relates to run production for the Braves, which also explains how they create scoring opportunities.

A manager could use this type of analysis to make better decisions about strategy, staffing, and performance improvement. In baseball, managers can use batting data and pitching data to identify who is most reliable. In any organization, similar analysis helps managers spot trends, compare performance over time, and focus resources on areas that need it most. It also supports planning by showing where they are strongest and where they are weakest, so they can put the right individuals in that certain spot.

Additional data would have made the analysis even more useful. For hitters, information such as games played, at bats, on base percentage, slugging percentage, and strikeout rate would provide a deeper look at efficiency rather than just total production. For pitchers, statistics like WHIP, walks allowed, saves, and opponent batting average would give a more complete view. Team level context, wins and losses, injuries, roster changes, and playoff results, would also help explain why performance rose or fell from one season to the next.
